Lose weight - Montignac's Method
Idea:
Limiting the amount of food
(counting calories) usually doesn't help in the long run (leads to gaining
more weight later - so called yo-yo effect). It is not the amount
- but contents and combinations.
Example:
French students coming
to USA usually gain weight. Americans coming to France often lose
weight.
French spend a lot of time
at the table eating, eat 30% more fats then americans, drink 10 times more
wine, don't do physical excersises - but are on average healthier than
americans. Weight is lower. Caronary death risk - very low.
Example:
In 1945 indian reservations
were open allowing indians access to common foods. Indians were hit
by deseases (overweight and diabetis). Then they were returned back
to their natural foods - and all problems dissappeared.
Example:
The Australian aborigens'
existence was preserved by returning them to their traditional eating habits.
2. Healthy bread + cheese
Less
sugar >> less insulin >> less weight gain.
Conclusion: don't eat rafinated food (white bread, sugar, etc.) with fats (cheese).
Glycemic Index, or G-Index. High - bad (sugar, white bread or white flour, , potatos, carots, corn).
Sugar consumption/year/person
(in France):
1800 - 0.6 kg
1880 - 8 kg
1900 - 17 kg
1930 - 30 kg
1965 - 40 kg
1990 - 35 kg
In U.K. - 49 kg, Germany - 52 kg, USA - 63 kg !!
Potatos - high G-index, retains
very little of useful stuff after cooking.
White flour - cleaning raises
G-index from 35 to 70.
French paradox - why
are they healthier?
1. They make a break for
food
2. They eat 3 time a day
3. They use meal structured
in at least 3 pieces of different contents
4.They eat more vegetables
and fruites
5.They use good fats (olive
oil, sunflower oil, gooze or fish oil)
6.They drink wine regularly
(especially red)
Americans are unhealthy
- coca-cola + humburger
Bad food: white flower,
sugar, potator, white rice, food with bad fats
Bad diet - just limit the
amount of calories.
Better approach: don't limit
the food, but:
change your
eating habits
eat several
times a day
prefer foods
with low G-index and select fats carefully
Eat more in the morning
- and less at night
Don't skip the meals.
